14 Weeks

So, I’ve decided to take the final week of this month to adjust to this crazy pregnancy thing and then I’m back to regular posting on February 1st!  In fact, I’m kicking off my return with the most awesome giveaway I’ve ever done on the blog, so you MUST stay tuned!!

Until then, another bump-date:

How far along? 14 Weeks (the downside of being tall… I look the same as I did weeks ago.  I’m surprised I’m showing at all!)
Baby is the size of: A lemon
Total weight gain: I’m down 5 lbs
Gender: We find out on Sunday, assuming baby cooperates!  (Anyone want to venture a guess??)
Name: Still throwing out ideas.  Still no closer to actually picking one.
Maternity Clothes: Still loving my maternity pants; no need for anything else yet.
Stretch marks? nope
Sleep: I’m still in bed by 9:30 most nights, but I’m less tired during the day now.
Movement: I haven’t felt anything yet.  My midwife says I might have an anterior placenta, which would mean I’m still a few solid weeks away from being able to feel anything.  I hope it’s not true!!  I’m dying to feel a little movement :)
Best moment this week: Celebrating the wedding of some dear friends of ours and having the energy to dance and visit with everyone.
Miss Anything: This isn’t exactly pregnancy-related, but I’ve been really missing my grandma the past few weeks.  Today marks one year since she passed away, and I wish with all my heart that she was here to meet our little one this summer.
Belly button in or out? In
Food cravings: I’m still over-the-moon for strawberries.  Can’t. Get. Enough.
Anything making you queasy or sick: A few smells, the thought of meat, over-doing it by being out and about
Labor Signs: nope
Symptoms: The nausea is slowly tapering off (can’t wait til it’s gone, gone, gone!), but there’s always something to deal with: heartburn, headaches, painful stretching tummy, tiredness… what an adventure, haha.
Wedding ring on or off? On!
Happy or Moody most of the time: This week I have felt the best thus far, so I’ve been especially happy
Looking forward to: Getting our ultrasound on Sunday and seeing a real baby in there!  I’m also super excited to find out the gender… it’ll definitely make the whole thing feel more real.

    I love your weekly photos and the questions you answer. Such a cute idea that one day I hope to steal. You mentioned midwife…are you guys planning a home birth? If that’s too personal no worries.

    @meagan: Yes, we are having a home birth. I’ll probably write a post about our choice at some point… I know it’s not right for everybody, but we’re super excited about it :)

    Have you seen the documentary the Business of Being Born? I saw it in my women’s studies class and it really opened my eyes to the idea of having a home birth. They also made a few other DVDs but I haven’t seen them yet. It’s so interesting.

    @meagan: i HAVE seen that documentary. if you’re interested in it, there is also a mini-series that they created to follow up to the documentary. i think it’s like 5 one hour episodes. it’s a bunch of stuff they filmed that never made it into the movie… also very interesting. you can watch them for free on Netflix.
