Tattoos… hot or not?
A friend of mine recently told me that she’s planning to get a tattoo on her foot as a college graduation gift to herself. I, too, have considered a foot tattoo— in fact, I’ve had mine designed in my head for three years— but I am ink free at the moment. (I think I’m just too much of a wouss to actually go through with it…)
I’m from the San Francisco Bay Area… around here, it’s more normal to have a tattoo than not to. So, a lot of the time, they don’t shock or surprise me.
Some tattoos are really beautiful, meaningful, or discreet. Those are all adjectives I can get on board with. But I hate tattoos that are generic or impulsive… these images will be on your body for the rest of your life, people! (P.S.- If you’re looking for a totally inspiring tattoo-related story, pick up the April issue of Glamour magazine!)
What do you guys think? Are you a fan of tattoos, or do they freak you out? Do you have a tattoo (or two, or three) that you love? Or one that you regret? Send me a photo (kim@blendingbeautiful.com) or share your story below!
I’d also like to announce that I will be writing articles on an awesome, up-and-coming, Seattle-based blog called Wedding Bite! Check it out, subscribe, and become a fan on facebook!

OMG your blog is about me. YESSSSSSS.
I’m pretty much on the same page as you. I like discreet, meaningful tattoos. When they’re impulsive or cliche, or if they take over your entire body, I don’t like them. But I’m pretty excited slash petrified about mine…
Also, SEATTLE-BASED!?

Depends. I have two right now, and it was only after years of having the designs in my head and making sure that they were for a specific meaning that was significant to me that I got them. I still have other designs floating around in my head, and I’m still deciding on a final design and if I like that meaning that is behind them. I feel that too many people these days get tattoos simply because they look “cool” or are part of some trendy movement, the exact opposite of the original reason people got tattoos, if you look back at the history of them.

I think it depends- if they can be covered/hidden for formal occasions they can be really hot but sometimes they are just too much- especially after a big body change like having a baby.

IF they have true meaning, the pink ribbon for breast cancer and done descreetly
Ok Just remember you too will

I am quite sure 95% of young people, especially women, will regret their tattoos later in life. It’s like wearing the same thing, everyday, for the rest of your life! Black ink can be laser-ed off (PAINFUL and expensive!), but not colors. Another fashion that will go out of style, and will date a generation, when they all want to look younger than they are–in their 40’s, 50’s, 60’s. “Oh, there’s granny w her tatoos! She must be of that era.”
Did I mention I hate tattoos?! -
