Most of us probably like to peruse the beauty counters at our local department stores from time to time— either to get product information or replenish an empty eyeshadow— but I’m curious how many of you have visited the beauty department for this…

I’ve heard of it being done; a woman wants killer makeup for a big event, but doesn’t want to throw down the cash for a bunch of new products or a professional makeup artist.  So she heads down to Macy’s and “tests” a bunch of beauty products by getting a makeover by one of the girls at the beauty counter.

Etiquette requires the purchase of one (or more) of these products as payment for the salesperson’s time.  But I’m guessing that’s not always how it works…
