A reader recently asked me how to pick the perfect foundation when you’re in between two drugstore shades. This can be super frustrating, so here are a few easy ways to find the perfect foundation for you…
1. Buy both shades. If you’re in between two shades, buy both of them and mix! It will last you twice as long, and you’ll be able to customize your color between seasons (darker in the Summer and lighter in Winter).
2. Go for tinted moisturizer. If your skin is relatively blemish-free, a tinted moisturizer will warm you up without being cakey. The shades are more generally categorized, so there’s a match for everyone! (I also love tinted moisturizer because my freckles show through it :)
3. Head to the beauty counter. If you have the budget for it, high end cosmetics tend to come in a wider range of shades and the gals at the beauty counter can help you find the perfect one for you.
Remember: if you’re going to splurge on any beauty product, foundation is the one. It can prevent blemishes, protect you from SPF damage, and it will keep your complexion from looking too pale or too bronzed.
What kind of foundation do you use? How did you find your perfect shade? Do you switch up the colors during Summer and Winter? Tell me about it in the comments!
