This Girl Might Win “Cutest Bridesmaid Ever”

I’m doing hair and makeup for a sweet bride named Kristine next month, who is having her bridal shower this weekend.  One of her bridesmaids can’t be there in person, so she made Kristine this AH-mazing video!  You have to check it out…

Isn’t that hilarious/adorable/oh-so-loving?  This took some serious dedication!

I can’t wait to work with this lovely bride and meet her awesome bridesmaids in person :)

What do you think of this bridesmaid video?  How would you show your friend some love if you couldn’t make it to her shower?  Share in the comments!

Au Revoir, Wedding Wednesday…

I’ve officially decided to suspend my Wedding Wednesday posts to make way for new mid-day ramblings on the blog.  Wedding Wednesday started as a way for me to process and plan all the details of my own wedding.  Now, almost a year after getting hitched, I often find myself struggling to come up with interesting wedding-related posts.

I still adore weddings and I know many of you do, too.  So there will absolutely continue to be bits of wedding-related content on the blog.  But for now, I’d like to reserve our Wednesdays for subjects I’m more inspired by.

Like trying new DIY projects

And pretty hairstyles

And planning the design for our new apartment!  (Did I tell you we’re moving to a bigger place?!)

Thanks so much for all your input on the Wedding Wednesday posts (all 100 of them!) and for weighing in on my own wedding planning… everything from wording our invitations to choosing the style of my wedding band.  And, please, if you have wedding-related questions or need advice, don’t hesitate to send them my way!

Until then, what other kinds of posts would you like to see on the blog?  Got a Wedding Wednesday post that was your fave?  Share in the comments!

Wedding Wednesday POLL: Should You Live Together Before Marriage?

I have a friend who is planning to move in with her boyfriend in the coming months, and we were talking about living together before marriage.  Travis and I moved in together less than a year into our relationship and spent three years shacked up before heading down the aisle.  My friend agreed that living together was important for her before marriage, but she was happy spending a year or less under the same roof before making the plunge.

For me, I feel like living with someone before you agree to spend your entire life with them is a smart move.  What if you’re styles of cohabiting are totally different and living together is more stressful than fun?  Beyond that, I know from experience that Travis and I learned a lot about each other simply from being around each other all the time and living in the same apartment.

On the other hand, I have another friend who won’t move in until after the wedding ceremony.  And there’s something unbelievably romantic about that.  When she gets married, she will really be starting her life with her husband.  (Travis and I had “started our life together” years before he put a ring on it.)

I’d love to know what you think…

Will you (or did you) live with your significant other before marriage?  What made you choose to do one or the other?  Share your thoughts in the comments!

Wedding Wednesday: Good News on the Ring Front!

Last week at this time, I was devastated because I’d lost my wedding ring in a big dog park.  THIS week, I’m happy to report that my ring is back on my finger!!

(moments after getting my ring back)

After losing my ring, I put signs up in the park in the hope that if someone stumbled onto it, they’d return it to me.  I went back to the park with a metal detector and searched everywhere for my little ring with no luck.  Then I got a call from a regular at the dog park saying that someone had found it!

Days went by with no contact from this mystery person.  I started to worry that they weren’t planning on returning it to me at all.  But eventually, that amazing call came.  And on Monday evening, my ring was back on my finger!

Randomly cool side note:  the woman that found my ring married her husband on the same day that Trav and I got married last year!

I am beyond happy to have it back, and I am never taking my ring off AGAIN. :)

Have you ever lost something important to you?  Did you get it back?  Do you take your wedding ring off?

P.S. Happy first day of summer!!

What to Wear to a Backyard Wedding

Your friend, the bride, is a vision in white and the bridesmaids all wear beautiful variations of the same-colored dress.   Bridal party fashion is typically pretty traditional.  So as a guest at a backyard wedding, you are morally obligated to bring your unique brand of cuteness to the occasion.

Stay classy but casual with a breathable dress that has a little twirl for the reception dance floor.  Stand out with a minty statement necklace that will make your look pop.  Suede wedges will keep you from tripping in the grass after your champagne makes everything tilt and shine.  Keep your lipstick and cell phone safe in a gold envelope clutch, and don’t forget to bundle up at the end of the night in a tough-but-sweet biker jacket that, naturally, matches your shoes.

What do you usually wear to backyard weddings?  Do you like to stand out with fun colors?  Are wedges your go-to shoe for outdoor events?  Share your thoughts in the comments!
