DIY Throw Pillows

I’ve recently gotten this renewed sense of energy to finish decorating our apartment.  Shortly after we moved in, we realized that this wouldn’t be a super permanent place for us.  So, I lost a little of the oomph it takes to complete the look of the place.  But now that I mainly work from home, I realized that it’s important for me to feel stimulated in my environment.

So, I’ve been spending my weekends on fun decor projects!  A couple weeks ago I made these reversible throw pillows…

I love the fun prints— they keep me feeling perky all day long.

Have you ever made throw pillows for your home?  Isn’t it amazing how such a small detail can update an entire room?  Got any other decor projects you’ve been working on?  Please share in the comments!

Have a Great Weekend (Let’s Be Friends on Pinterest!)

Happy Friday, my sweets!  What are you up to this weekend?  I’m pretty excited to be doing hair for a six year old’s birthday party on Saturday!  Her mom hired me to create a girly day for her and her friends— I’m putting rainbow colored feather extensions in their hair, painting their nails with glittery polish, and braiding their sweet little locks.  Sometimes I just love being a freelance hairstylist :)

I want to kick off this weekend with some images that will hopefully inspire you to make the most of your days off.  If you want to check out all of my pinboards you can do so here!

I have an entire board just for cool and creative photos, like this beautiful underwater shot.

The interior design inspiration is one of my favorite parts of Pinterest.

Of course, much of my nail and hair ideas come from other creative beauty lovers.

And I LOVE all the DIY project ideas!

Of course, I also have boards for fashion, food, fun party ideas, and more.  Isn’t Pinterest seriously addicting?  Have a good weekend, my loves.

What are you up to this weekend?  Any fun plans to share?  Are you as into Pinterest as I am?  Comment with your user name so I can follow you!

How To: Make Your Own Terrarium

I’ve been dying to make my own terrarium for ages, and over the weekend, I finally took the time to do it!  Terrariums are easy to make, extremely low maintenance, and add a beautiful touch to any room.  Here’s the step by step…

You will need:

1) Potting soil     2) A terrarium (or canister of any kind)     3) Pebbles     4) Succulents and/or cactus     5) A figurine or character of some kind

My terrarium is made to hang and the globe shape wouldn’t sit upright on the table, so I put it in a cereal bowl while I added everything inside :)  Start with 1-2″ of rocks.

Follow that with about 2″ of potting soil.

Remove your plants and arrange them in your terrarium, making sure you dig the roots into the soil a bit.

Cover with more potting soil, then place your figurine in the front.

Put your terrarium on display and enjoy!

To maintain: simply check the pebbles at the bottom.  If they’re wet, no need to water them.  If they’re dry, add a tiny bit of water and you’re done!

What do you think of my terrarium?  Would you make one of your own?  What kind of character or figurine would you add to yours?  Tell me about it in the comments!
