Nursery Tour

Ok, my sweets, it’s finally time for the big reveal :)  I’m so excited to share photos of our little girl’s nursery with you.  We’ve spent the last few months painting, DIYing, and putting together furniture and I think it’s officially ready!

Care to take a peek?

I already showed you a sneak peek of my DIY rocking chair project and our painted dresser-turned-changing table, but I am in love with these honeycomb shelves, made by hand by my super talented dad!

I think the best part about being done with the nursery is having all the little necessities organized…

We’re planning on using cloth diapers, but we got these compostable ones for the first couple months while we get into the swing of life with a newborn.  I’m kind of obsessed with how tiny they are!

I tried to keep the feel of the nursery light and airy, but to keep things interesting, I played with lots of different textures.

I sewed the crib skirt myself, but I think my favorite DIY nursery project was the mobile…

Also, how cute are the baby animal pictures by Sharon Montrose?

Overall, I had a great time putting this space together and I’m happy with how it turned out!  I’m sure it’ll adjust and evolve, but for now it feels good to have this big project checked off the to-do list :)

Before and After: Rocking Chair Makeover

I’m still adding finishing touches to baby girl’s nursery, but I thought I’d share a sneak peek of one of the projects I’ve already completed, if you’d like to see…

In my first trimester when I was so sick, I found that rocking back and forth in the glider at my midwife’s office was very soothing.  I decided that I wanted to get one for the house and I started scouring Craigslist for good deals.

I came across this simple rocking chair and thought it would do the trick, so we snatched it up with the goal of re-covering the cushions.  Here’s a before photo:

The color was a tired mint that was yellowing with age.  I didn’t know the condition of the cushions underneath, so I decided to keep the mint covers and sew right over them.  I chose this grey and white polka dot fabric knowing that we could use it down the line if baby #2 is a boy.

The glider didn’t come with an ottoman, so I searched around for something creative to use.  I found this knitted pouf on sale at Target for $30— score!

Now, to find the perfect throw pillow and I think this project will be complete!

The Cost Plus furniture sale has me wishing our apartment was bigger…

I’m slightly obsessed with Cost Plus.  Their eclectic mix of earthy-modern decor is right up my alley.  (And let’s face it: their candy aisle is to die for.)

Did you know that until November 22nd, all furniture is 25% off (both in store and online)?!  It’s kinda killing me that I don’t have any major furniture needs at the moment.  But just in case you do, here are a few of my favorite pieces…

fuchsia chair / hammered coffee table / swivel stool / upholstered bed / metal tub chair / wood & metal coffee table

Check out all their on-sale furniture here!

Have a Spooky Weekend!

This weekend promises to be very festive! There are lots of gatherings and Travis and I are excited to rock our newly-finished Halloween costumes (I’ll show you guys next week). We still haven’t carved or decorated our pumpkins yet, either, so there’s lots to be done!

Let’s kick off the weekend with some fun links from around the web…

Have a Great Weekend!

Fall rolled into San Francisco and it brought a nasty cold along with it!  I spent all day yesterday in bed, and it looks like my Friday is shaping up similarly.  Good thing Netflix play-it-now documentaries and herbal tea exists!

I’m hoping to be back on my feet by tomorrow— there’s lots of fun events happening in the city this weekend!  Until then, I plan to lay low and browse the web… care to join me?

I just ordered new business cards!  (Aren’t they cute?!)

Glen Hansard is playing the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival… be still, my heart!

So many boot socks, so little time.

Pretty sailboat tattoo

Love this simple design esthetic.

Who wouldn’t want to wake up to this on their birthday?

Lovely hair for fall…

Neat idea: wallpapered stairs.

I am OBSESSED with this light grey nail color!!

These thin crust pizza bites would make the best appetizers, don’t you think?

What are you up to this weekend?  Got any big plans or laying low at home?  Have you stumbled onto any must-share links this week?  Leave ’em in the comments!
