Happy Fourth of July!

I hope you all are enjoying a lovely Independence Day today!  Travis is taking the day off work— which I wasn’t expecting since he’s been so busy getting his clients ready for paternity leave— so I am extra excited to spend an entire week day with him :)  We’re planning to take a nice long walk and bake some strawberry shortcake (which looks pretty festive, if you ask me… maybe we’ll throw some blueberries on there for good measure.)

If you’re looking for an easy way to get in on the Fourth of July fun, here are some cute ideas…

A patriotic manicure

A festive drink: a Shirley Temple with berries and pop rocks!  (Maybe add a splash of vodka if you’re not pregnant.)

Rock some Americana stripes.

Get crafty with some red, white, and blue bunting!  (Worth keeping up all summer, if you ask me…)

Hope you have a very fun and safe holiday!

How are you celebrating the fourth today?  A pool party or BBQ?  A mellow day off work?  Three years ago, Trav and I were celebrating this :)

Happy Mother’s Day!

I just wanted to pop in to send Mother’s Day wishes to all of my sweet mama readers, whether your babies are running around the house right now, all grown up, still in your belly, or if they only live in your heart.

I feel so blessed to have such an amazing mom in my life, and I can’t believe that this time next year I’ll have a 10 month old baby girl to snuggle!

I hope you all had a truly magical day :)

Happy Earth Day! My Earth Saving (and Money Saving) Favorites

I promise to post a bit later with this week’s baby bump update, but first I want to wish you all a very happy Earth Day!  Obviously, it’s important that we take good care of our planet every day of the year, but I always love this day for reminding me that there’s always a little more that I can do.

Check out this little rundown of some of my favorite earth friendly items (all of which are having sales of some sort to celebrate this weekend!)

1) Mrs. Meyer’s cleaning products are safe for the environment, safe for your family (extra important when you’re pregnant or have little ones!), and come in AMAZING scents, like Geranium.  Mrs. Meyer’s All Purpose Cleaner is a great product to start with if you want to try the line.  Enjoy free shipping all weekend!

2) Head to Target this Sunday and pickup a free reusable shopping bag, filled with coupons and samples of their favorite eco-friendly products!

3) Also at Target, Charlie Banana reusable cloth diapers are 15% off when you buy two.  These are the diapers we plan on using for baby girl… I’ve heard great things and can’t wait to try them.

4) Amazon is holding sales on all kinds of Earth-friendly products this weekend, but I’m especially enamored by the pretty bamboo servingware, which is 15%.

5) I love Zoya nail polish because it goes on evenly and comes in great colors.  Plus, it’s more natural than many other polish brands, free of harsh chemicals like formaldehyde.  This weekend, buy 6-24 Zoya polishes and get them half off when you enter the code ZOYAEARTH2013.  When you receive your order, send them 6 old polishes in your collection and they’ll dispose of them in an earth-friendly way!

How are you celebrating Earth Day?  Plan on taking advantage of any of these great deals?  Got some eco-friendly ideas of your own to share?  Spill in the comments!

Quick & Easy Ways to Get Into the Valentine’s Day Spirit

People seem to either love or hate Valentine’s Day.  I happen to be someone who loves it.  Any excuse to celebrate love is just fine by me!

I’m feeling especially attached to  Vday this year, since it’s the last time Trav and I will be celebrating as a duo and not a trio (eee!)  But since the holiday falls on Thursday, it’s not exactly realistic to have an all-day love fest.

If you’re looking to get into the spirit of love, but haven’t made the time yet, here are a few quick and easy ideas…

Rock a heart manicure.  This one was inspired by The Beauty Department and it has kept me in the Valentine’s spirit all week!

Put out conversation hearts.  Totally cheesy, very nostalgic, and a cutesy way to leave love notes on your sweetie’s pillow…

Decorate with a DIY heart garland.  This was way easier to make than I would have expected and looks totally cute.

Get crafty.  I put together this Valentine’s Day craft box for a friend over the weekend.  Making homemade cards is still one of my favorite activities.

Decorate heart cookies!  Because you can never have too much sugar, right?  Click here for the recipe…

What are you doing to get into the spirit of Valentine’s Day?  Got any ideas to share?

P.S. I am totally swooning over these heart bowls from West Elm!

POLL: Will you send out holiday cards this year?

This week officially kicks off the holiday season!  Thanksgiving is definitely my favorite holiday, so I could not be more pumped about this week.

I’m also in the process of designing our holiday card for this year.  I have a super awesome idea for it and I can’t WAIT to share with you :)  (Last year, we sent out postcards with a photo from our wedding… you can take a look here.)

Are you into holiday cards?  Will you send one out this year?
