Have A Warm Weekend!

It’s been so cold and rainy and thundery and generally unpleasant in San Francisco this week.  But word on the street is that this weekend will be full of sun!  I can’t wait to go hiking in Half Moon Bay and make something extra tasty for dinner!

To get you through this final day of work, I’ve collected a few fun posts from around the web!

DIY surprise lanterns!

These animals are extremely disappointed in you.  (My co-worker and I can’t stop laughing over these!)

I love everything about this look.

Swooning over these Holli Zollinger designs…

DIY nail stickers are genius!  Why didn’t I think of that?!

Do you think the half-tuck is a do or a don’t?

Nail polish that’s designed to be safe for moms-to-be.

These magnets made me smile :)

Upholstered walls!!

DIY leopard print shorts.

My current sneakpeeq fave.  (These seriously smell like Hawaii… I’m in love!)

And a few {bb} posts you may have missed…

An updo that works on short & long hair.

Easy-peasy gift wrap!

Make delicious orange chocolate cake!

Wedding Inspiration For Short-Haired Gals!

It seems like most wedding hair posts (including mine, until now) cater to ladies with long locks.  But now that I’m a short haired gal myself, I’ve been scouring the web for wedding-worthy looks that don’t require a lot of length.

See what I found…

For super-short hair, I think it’s best to have an accessory (like a headband or statement earrings:

For hair around the shoulders, there’s a little more inherent girly-ness:

I have to confess, these cute images have me wishing I could get my hands on short haired brides!

What do you think of these ideas for brides with short hair?  Would you wear any of these styles on your big day?  Got any other inspiring photos to share?  Tell me about it in the comments!

How To Do The Katniss Braid

Are you a big fan of the Hunger Games?  Did anyone go see the movie over the weekend?  (I’m super pumped for it, but I’m waiting til the crazy crowds die down a little.)

Katniss is known throughout the book and movie for her signature side braid, so today I thought I’d show you just how easy it is to get this cool look!

Step 1: Part your hair to the side and start on the heavier half (the half with more hair.)  Draw a diagonal part from your forehead to your side part, creating a triangle of hair.

Step 2: Separate into three sections and start braiding— but here’s where it’s a little different.  Rather than pulling each section of hair over one another, go underneath.

Step 3: As you braid, grab small sections of hair from the rest of the head and incorporate them.  (Basically, all you’re doing is a french braid, but by wrapping each section under one another rather than over, it creates this inside-out effect.)

Step 4: Continue around the head until you run out of hair to incorporate.  Then, do a plain old braid down the side.

.

Step 5: Secure with an elastic, and you’re ready to adventure like Katniss!

This can be tricky to do on yourself at first, but practice on a few friends and you’ll get the hang of it.  I’m not gonna lie… this style makes me miss having long hair!

What do you think of the Katniss braid?  Have you rocked this look before?  Are you new to french braids or have you got ‘em down?  Share your thoughts in the comments!

Have a Beautiful Weekend!

The weather is supposed to be in the 70’s this weekend (!!!) and I could not be more thrilled.  I’m planning to go for a nice long run, color my mom’s hair and then celebrate my cousin’s baby shower!  Not too shabby, if you ask me.

I am super antsy to get this weekend started, so let’s kick it off with another round of fun links from the www…

Spring Hairstyles

I cut off all my hair in December, and now I’m having fun letting it grow out and trying out new styles.  I’ve been amping up my Winter wardrobe with bright colors lately in anticipation of Spring, and now I’ve got my sights set on fun hairstyles for the warmer months.

Here are some hairstyles that are inspiring me as my hair gets a little longer:

{slicked back with braided bangs}

{highlighted and tousled}

{tied up in a vintage scarf}

And here are a few that I’m hoping to see my long-haired comrades rocking this Spring & Summer:

{half-up halo braid}

{flowers woven into updos}

{big, glam waves}

What hairstyles have you inspired as we near the warmer months?  Do you change your hair color with the seasons?  And how long is your hair at the moment?  (Longer than mine, I bet!)
