Currently Obsessed With: Waffles and Honey

Oh my goodness, sweet readers, I have found my new favorite jewelry brand and I am totally smitten!  Have you heard of Waffles & Honey?

They’re a little San Francisco-based shop with the most beautiful accessories, featuring natural cut stones and 14k gold.  Their creations are somehow both totally timeless and right on trend.

I rocked their Amethyst Geode Necklace over the weekend and got at least a dozen compliments!  I was wearing the most casual outfit, but I slipped on this necklace and suddenly felt so put together… which is basically a new mom’s dream come true :)

Since their pieces are even more beautiful layered, I’m already on the hunt for my next W&H piece.  And you better believe that I’m gifting these gems to my lady friends over the holidays.

If you want to snag an item or two from this gorgeous collection, you’re in luck: Waffles & Honey is offering {blending beautiful} readers a 15% discount with the code BEAUTIFUL15!  (And don’t forget to check them out on Facebook for new shop updates and exclusive discounts.)

(This post is sponsored by Waffles & Honey, but all the sentiments are mine!  I truly adore this brand and appreciate your support of the sponsors that make {blending beautiful} possible.)

Do you prioritize “girls only” time?

After you have a baby, it seems that everyone tells you to continue making time for your marriage.  “Go out on dates without the baby,” they say.  “Keep the lines of communication open.”  I could NOT agree with this sentiment more.  It is extraordinarily difficult to make time for romance when you’re exhausted, covered in spit up, and haven’t had a shower in three days.

I realized recently that after having a baby, it’s even harder to prioritize time with friends.  Besides the ladies in my new mom group, I pretty much see none of my old friends unless they come by to visit the baby.

But on Monday, the most awesome thing ever happened.  I put Hazel to bed and instead of collapsing into a pit of exhaustion, I rallied.  I put on makeup and a cute outfit and met one of my best friends at a restaurant.  We had a drink (virgin for me, boo) and appetizers and chatted about relationships and girlie things and it was seriously SO awesome.  It felt like a vacation.  It felt like I was a real person for two hours and not just somebody’s mom.

I’d love to know what you ladies think about this.  Whether you’re a mom or not, do you find it hard to make time for your girlfriends?  Or do you have weekly/monthly hangouts planned?  Do you think it’s as important to make time for your ladies as it is for your relationship?

Instagram Happenings

If you’ve been following this blog for a while, you know that I used to post every day.  Quite honestly, I miss the routine of writing that often and interacting with all of you sweet readers!  But this pregnancy has definitely slowed me down and I know it’s not about to get any easier to post with a new baby in the mix.  So, I’d love to invite you all over to Instagram, where I’m able to post much more frequently.

Of course, I’ll continue to keep up with the blog, but if you’re craving a little daily dose of {blending beautiful}, Instagram is a great place to find it.  Here are a few recent Insta pics…

An at-home gradient manicure…

If you haven’t already, join me on IG for more updates on DIY projects, the pregnancy and new baby, beauty finds, and other fun things!  (My user name is blendingbeautiful.)  Hope to see you there :)

Guess What? You’re More Beautiful Than You Think…

Since this blog has the word beautiful in the title, I couldn’t resist sharing this short video with all of you this afternoon.

As a hair and makeup artist, I often notice that my clients say things to me like, “As you can see, I have a huge forehead/double chin/saggy eyes/etc…  Anything you can do to minimize that?”  Nine times out of ten, I would have never described that person with the “flaw” that they used to characterize their face.  Take a moment to watch this video and consider the way you view your own beauty.  I bet you anything that you’re more beautiful than you think you are.

P.S. You can click the YouTube link in the bottom right corner of the video to view it bigger (which I recommend.)

Happy 3rd Birthday, {blending beautiful}!

Holy smokes, sweet readers… can you believe this little blog has been in existence for three years already?  It kind of blows me away to think of how much has changed in my personal life since {blending beautiful} first came into existence: I have graduated from college, gotten a cosmetology license, married my sweet Trav, moved apartments about a million times, and now we’re expecting our first baby!

In the past few months, I’ve had to take a step back from regular posting.  I was losing a bit of my inspiration and then the early months of pregnancy made it pretty much impossible to function.  But the time away has renewed my energy for this blog, and starting tomorrow I’ll be back with more regular/non-pregnancy posts.  In fact, I’m kicking things back off with the BEST giveaway I’ve ever done on the site.  (I’m super excited about it!)

So thank you for bearing with me, whether you’re a new reader or have followed this blog for three whole years.  I am so grateful for every person who reads, comments, and emails… you all make my day more than you’ll ever know :)

xo, Kim
