Have an Adventurous Weekend

Happy Friday, my sweets!  We’ve arrived in Italy and we’ll spend the majority of this weekend exploring Rome.  Travis and I both expect to be exhausted by the time our trip is over– there’s so much to see and never enough time!  Although we plan to see many of the historical landmarks, I’m especially excited to roam the farmer’s markets and and try some of the classic local cuisine, like bucatini all’amatriciana.

The blog will be active the entire time we’re abroad, so make sure to come back and visit all next week :)  Until then, let’s browse some fun finds from around the web…

Love this little boy’s bedroom!

Dreamy wedding dress…

Apple pie cookies to welcome fall :)

Who’s your lobster?

Rainbow nails…

I picked up this coat last week– LOVE the flattering cut and big collar!

DIY project: squishy knot pillow.

Sweet anchor tattoo…

Check out just what highlighting and contouring can do to your makeup…

And take a virtual tour of our flat in Rome!!

What are you up to this weekend?  Got any big plans?  Taking any trips yourself?  (Any advice for our time in Italy??)  Share in the comments!

County Fair

Today is the day, my sweets! We’re off to Italy this evening and I COULD NOT be more excited, although Trav and I are missing out on something pretty awesome because of our trip…

The Santa Cruz County Fair!

With fall comes the appearance of state and county fairs all over the country.  Travis and I had our first “official” date at the fair five years ago— I love the gooey cinnamon rolls, hilarious hypnotist, and adorable baby pigs as much now as I did growing up.

I stumbled onto these awesome state fair posters, and I thought I’d share…

All images {via}

They’re part of a series called “Poster-On-A-Stick”… pretty cool, right?

Do you have a state or county fair in your area?  What’s your favorite part?  The food?  The festivities?  The cute animals?  Share in the comments!

Hot Pattern: Hexagons

It’s no secret that I love anything chevron (see here and here), but a new geometric pattern has been tugging at my heartstrings lately: hexagons.

I’ve been seeing it everywhere, take a look:

Tiles

Engagement Rings

Shelving

Quilts

Photos like this last one have inspired me to start a hexagon quilt of my own (which seems like a very tedious task because it’s a hand-sewn project, but hopefully worth it!)

What do you think of the hexagon pattern?  Have you noticed it popping up all over the place, or is it just me?  What do you think of my quilt plan?  Share your thoughts in the comments!
