POLL: Do You Have An Emergency Preparedness Kit At Home?

In light of all of the recent tragedy in Japan, there have been lots of ads for Emergency Kits popping up in the Bay Area.  And I’m curious… do you have one?

{via}

When Travis and I were living in San Francisco, we bought a wind-up radio and a couple of flashlights.  I think we also collected some canned goods and water, but I think we’ve since consumed them… oops!

At this point, I guess I’d classify us as semi-prepared.  I’m not sure that really counts for anything, but a wind-up radio is better than nothing right?

Where do you fall on the preparedness spectrum?

.

How’d you answer the poll?  If you have a kit, what’s in there?  If not, what do you think belongs in one? Tell me in the comments!

Wedding Wednesday: How Should We Word Our Invitations?

Travis and I are designing our wedding invitations, and when we began the process, I assumed that the design itself would be the most difficult aspect.  But the trouble, for us, has been in the words…

{via}

There are all kinds of “rules” when it comes to the invitations.  If the bride’s parents are paying for the wedding, the invitation is supposed to come from them.

If the couple is paying (or sharing the financial burden with their parents, as in our case) there are all kinds of ways to word it!  Travis and I like the phrase “together with their parents”, but the decisions didn’t end there.

Do you know how many ways there are to say that we’re getting married?!  In our research, we came across the phrases: as they celebrate their marriage, as they join together in Holy matrimony, as they begin their lives together… the list goes on and on!

On top of all this, we need to find a way to inform guests (especially the women) to dress up, but to wear lawn-friendly shoes.

We just can’t figure out the perfect combination of things to say!

I’d love to know what you like to see on wedding invites…

How would you (or did you) word your wedding invitations?  Do you like to keep it formal or more laid-back?  Any ideas on how to word our invites?  Let me know what you think!

Spring Wedges—Yes, Please!

Our wedding reception is being held on a lawn, so I’ve been helping my mom and bridesmaids scope out cute wedges for the occasion.  And let me tell you, I’ve come across a bunch of cute pairs that I want for myself!

Check them out and tell me which ones you like best!

This is one of our wedding colors, so perhaps I have a bit of a bias, but I love the pop of color and zipper on this cute pair!

I think these just scream Easter Picnic, don’t you?

So fun and retro!

These would be great for a night out!

And if for you’re up for a splurge, you can’t go wrong with Kate Spade

Are you as into wedges this season as I am?  Which of these do you like best?  Do you have another pair that you’re eyeing?  And what kind of outfits do you like to pair with them?  Tell me all about it in the comments!

P.S.- Check out my guest post (posted yesterday) on Thrifty Solutions For An Urban Gal!
