My bridesmaids are coming over on Saturday to help with some wedding crafts and enjoy some girly time. I’m going to order Chinese food from this great local place, and I thought it would be fun to make cocktails.

It’s the middle of Winter, which means my face is p-a-l-e!  So many ladies make the mistake  of over-bronzing and fake baking in the colder months, but my philosophy is that we should play up our lighter complexions.  The solution?  Red lips!

It’s such an easy look to achieve.  All you need is a lip pencil, a great shade of red lipstick, and a brush to apply it with.  Here are the steps:

First, if your lips are dry or chapped from the Winter weather, exfoliate them to get rid of any flakes.

Then, line your lips, starting from the center and moving toward the outside.  Create a crisp line by keeping your lips in a closed-mouth smile while you outline.  (This step is more important than you may think.  It keeps the lipstick from bleeding into the fine lines around you mouth.)

Rub your brush over the lipstick and fill in your lips.

Blot if necessary, then rock your awesome look!

The color I used here is NYX’s “Hot Red”, which comes in a jumbo lip pencil.  The price is great, and it looks good on all types of skin tones.
