Help Me Plan My Trip To New York!!

Travis and I could NOT be more excited about this Glamour photo shoot because we’re turning it into a mini-vacation!  (And also because it’s a GLAMOUR PHOTO SHOOT!)  If you haven’t noticed, I am super pumped.

Neither of us have been to New York before, and we want to fit in as much as possible in the few days we’ll be there.  So we need your help!

Whether you’ve lived in New York or just visited, we’d love your input:

-If you had to choose your favorite NYC museum, which do you like best?

-Any favorite places to eat?

-The best spot you’ve found in Central Park?

-Any touristy places that are NOT worth visiting?

We’re staying in the heart of the city, so we should be able to get all over the place pretty easily.  (Bonus points for budget-friendly options!)

Got any recommendations for fun experiences in the Big Apple?  Any other travel tips that we should try?  Please share in the comments!

Another update on the Glamour front: I found out this week that the photographer who will be shooting me is Patrick Demarchelier! (Check out his photos of Kate Hudson, Nicole Kidman, and Angelina Jolie!) *swoon*

POLL: What’s Your Go-To Hairstyle?

Have you ever noticed that certain people wear their hair in the same style practically every day (I’m talking about you, Jennifer Aniston!)  Are you one of them?

It’s okay… so am I.

I don’t know what it is about hair, but it’s so easy to let one style define your look.  For a while, I stuck to straight, long hair.  Then I wore it wavy a lot of the time.  Soon, I bought some little claw clips and wore it half-up nearly every day.  Sadly, now I stick mostly to ponytails.

I’m sure Jennifer Aniston and I are not alone… so fess up!

What’s your go-to hairstyle?  Do you have an “everyday” look and a “dressed up” look?  What about makeup… is it pretty much the same everyday?  Tell me about it in the comments!

Wedding Wednesday: A Big, Fun Announcement!

I know I teased you all yesterday, but the wait is over!  I have been holding in this news for weeks now and I finally get to spill the beans…

As many of you know by now, my dream is to write for Glamour Magazine.  I have loved them for years, and I am so completely honored to say that I get to be a part of one of their upcoming issues!

I won’t be writing for them—yet!—I’ll be modeling!  In just two weeks, I’ll be flying out to New York City and participating in a bridal makeover-type photo shoot.

Of course, I’ll document my entire journey for the blog, and I’ll be sure to let you know when the mag hits stands!

Do you have a dream job that you’re working for?  Have you been to New York?  Any tips on what I should see/do in the short time that I’m there? Share in the comments!

Flannel Love…

I couldn’t be any happier about the chilly weather and all of its wonderful, fashionable byproducts.  Case in point: this cute Fall trend…

Check out some of these fun flannel pieces!

Keep it girly with non-traditional colors, like this button-up from JCrew.

This jacket from Mod Cloth is so fabulous!!

Give your flannel some shape with a cinched waist.  (Check out this piece at Forever 21.)

Or add a subtle pop of this trend with a flannel accessory, like this purse from

Are you into  flannel or do you feel a little like a lumberjack when you wear it?  What’s your favorite flannel piece (or what are you wishing you owned)?  How do you accessorize this look?  Tell me in the comments!

And check back tomorrow for a big, exciting announcement!  (I’m dying to share it with you all…)

POLL: How Old Is Too Old To Celebrate Halloween?

It finally felt like Fall in the Bay Area this weekend.  It was foggy and rainy and fabulous! Travis and I drove to Half Moon Bay to enjoy the Pumpkin Festival and pick out some pumpkins of our own!

playing in the cornfield

That’s pretty much where the Hallowen spirit ends for me.  I love fall, I love pumpkin bread and hot tea and sweaters, and I love buying a bunch of sale-priced candy on November first. But I’m not super into dressing up or watching scary movies, and I am certainly not going trick-or-treating.

Don’t get me wrong, the moment we have kids I will be back in spirit, but I don’t really think Halloween is a holiday for grown-ups.

I know plenty of 20-somethings who would hate me for saying that, and I’m curious which category you fall into.

Do you still celebrate Halloween?  Do you go trick-or-treating or stick to costume parties?  If a teenager or adult showed up at your door and asked for candy, would you give it to them?  Tell me about your Halloween traditions in the comments!
