Cosmetology school has obviously been rubbing off on me… I have been longing to add a little pink to my hair for the past few weeks.  I’m hesitant to do anything to it, since Travis and I are getting our engagement photos taken in a couple of weeks and I don’t feel like damaging my super-long locks.  My solution…?

Colored hair extensions!

These ready-made clip in extensions cost just $3.49 each at Sally’s Beauty Supply, and they’re super easy to use.  Just part your hair horizontally in the back, and clip them in to add a little punch of color.

Or, if you want to keep the same color, but extend the length of your hair, you can make your own hair extensions and wear them all over your head.  Check out an awesome video tutorial here!

Travis and I picked out my engagement ring together in person, but now that we’re both on the hunt for wedding bands, I’ve spent a bunch of time looking at jewelry online.  Lots of sites allow you to order very specific, custom items over the web… but I’m not sure I can actually go through with making such an important purchase anywhere but in person.

One of the sites I’ve been browsing is Blue Nile.  They’re known for their low prices and great quality, so if I do end up ordering online, this is probably where I’ll end up.  Here are some of their wedding bands:

I’d love to have this band, but I’m pretty sure it won’t work with the low setting of my engagement ring.

I’m also a big fan of this simple, modern band.

I guess, ultimately, I could return a wedding band if I didn’t love it, but I’m nervous about potentially buying something this important without trying it on… what do you think?

Growing up, I was always jealous of my friends who wore glasses.  I thought of them as an awesome style accessory that I would never get to enjoy.  My freshman year in high school, I bought glasses with nonprescription lenses, but I was too embarrassed to wear them, since they were only for show.

Well, on Saturday, my lifelong wish finally came true: I had my first-ever eye exam and bought two new pairs of glasses!  Not surprisingly, I am not nearly as excited to wear them now that I need them, but I am excited to have great vision again!  And I won’t mind having another way to accessorize my outfits.  (Too bad I have to wait 2 weeks to get them…)

Today is a wonderful day because it’s Travis’ and my three year anniversary!!  Plus, our wedding is in exactly ONE YEAR! woo hoo! (Happy anniversary, love!)  This has me thinking about my engagement ring…

I don’t have a lot of experience with fine jewelry.  I’m a low-maintenance girl who doesn’t wear a lot of bling.  But I am oh-so-in-love with my engagement ring, and it’s important to me that it stays clean and sparkly!

Cosmetology school is putting a damper on this, though.  I worked with about a pound of hair gel yesterday, and it left my ring looking like this:

Good thing my mom taught me a quick, easy, and free way to bring back the shine!  Want to know the trick…?

Toothpaste!  Grab a toothbrush (not one you use on your teeth, please!) and put a small dab of toothpaste on the bristles.  I don’t add water at first— just scrub at your jewelry for fifteen seconds, then add a little water to get the toothpaste nice and foamy.

Scrub it thoroughly to be sure that you don’t leave any grime behind.  Then, rinse!

My ring looks brand new every time I clean it with this method— I get the same rush I felt the day I first put it on…
